I forgot to mention the name the crew of the ship gave to the planet--
Neuerddraht--German, obviously, neu is new, erd I take to be short for
Erde, i.e., earth or world, and Draht means wire or cable.  New world
cable????

Oh, and the captain is a she, of course.
