Re: "Seven American Nights," heads up! There is a good essay on this
and a couple of other Wolfe stories in "New York Review of Science Fiction
No. 95" (alga ought to have a contributor's copy of this issue).
Locey incorporates and responds to the Gordon interpretation: for one
thing, she claims that the sixth day is Good Friday rather than
Easter; and that by counting back from here we see Nadan arriving in
the foreign city on Palm Sunday; that there is no "missing day"; etc.
There's also a lot of info on the real theatrical plays involved; and
how the real plays differ from those presented in the story. Neat stuff.
