If we stick with b), it might be interesting to note that (afaik) Wolfe has not written a story in which the government is a theocracy. It's easier to criticize from the outside. It might also bring up some embarrasing situations for the RCC, Wolfe's church of choice and possibly the most bureaucratic institution on the planet. Tom
