There is an interesting comment, and I cannot for the life of me remember whether it is somewhere in tBotNS or, perhaps, Castle of the Otter - but Wolfe-or-his-narrator comments that each of the continents of [Earth|Urth] has a racial "type" which is proper to it, and that whoever colonizes that continent winds up conforming to that type in about two thousand years. Sort of post-adaptationism? I'll try to look for that quote when I do my big reread of the Sun books later this year... --D --
