church (Bride of Christ) in the Book of Revelation (The Great Harlot).
Thus, 666. Also, the place is guarded by Cerberus, who guards the gates of
hell. In Proverbs, the harlot's feet "extend down to sheol," and the
opposition of Lady Wisdom and Harlot Folly in Proverbs 1-9 is immediate
background to Bride versus Harlot in Revelation, and something Wolfe cannot
fail to have missed. (Anyway, the abode of the antichrist is hell until he
appears on earth, when "they want us.")
