H'mmmm. Well:
First of all, the Pharisees essentially won -- if you look at modern
Orthodox-with-a-capital-O Jewish practice, it's almost entirely
descended from the practices of the Pharisaical party. I believe that
Orthodox Judaism today takes no official position on "what happens
after death," but I'm not sure -- I'd have to do some research in
books that I don't keep here at work (for some reason).
