Well, if yer gonna be nitpicky, just make it "two males and two females go
through a magic door and take their thrones as the four rulers of the
land." (And yes, Free's time machine might as well be magic.)

Not inconsistently -- they just don't stay long enough in any of the other
books to grow into adults.
