Three points:
instead of CMF, how about TSF (theological speculative fiction)
WRT the end of _TAD_, Horn in _OBW_ muses that if he returned to life with
Nettle on The Lizard, one night he might walk out and go out to sea to
never return, and later that dying on the rocks trying to approach a siren
might be the culmination of his life (is it misogynist to have a
female character who leads men to their deaths and then eats them?). And
are there Greek demigods who had so much dealing with demons? I am
strongly reminded of Chinese folk stories (and Monkey...and _Lord of
Light_).
Arete -- I like fishspine, but I thought we (:)) had decided it pretty
clearly refers to the classical (ie pre-Christian) virtues.
