I wonder if it is a book that, like LOTR, has been imitated so often 
that it now may seem quaint and derivative to those soaked in the 
literary tradition it started?   There have been few direct ripoffs, 
but the themes - and LITTLE,BIG is a book of moods, themes, and images -
have been imitated often.   In my opinion the whole "Urban fairyland" 
motif, elves in New York, started with LITTLE, BIG.
