From: "Dan'l Danehy-Oakes"Subject: RE: (urth) a Wolfe-spectrum, focus on TBOTSS Date: Thu, 30 May 2002 14:40:33 -0700 Mantis mentioned that Mr Wolfe apparently had 5HC somewhat in mind as a model in writing tBotSS. Aside from the fact that this adds some dubeity to his claims that the twin-worlds thing isn't totally conscious, it adds to something that has been building in my mind for the past while & which I am looking for as I begin rereading the SS books: Just as with the three novellas of 5HC, I suspect that the narrators of the three books are (at least, in some significant way) three different people. The first bit of evidence is in the cast-of-characters that appears at the beginning of each book. In retrospect, they make it quite clear that the Narr is in some important respect a different person from Horn; but if you look closely you'll see something else which first put me onto thinking they were different persons. (I won't say what to see if anyone else leaps to the same conclusion.) What do y'all think? --Blattid --
