For my money, Pike's ghost is the ghost of Pike.  I think he's hanging around
for the traditional reason: unfinished business in this world. It seems to be
connected with Mucor; his first appearance is just after Silk has seen Mucor,
IIRC, and only Mucor sees him the second time. There's a connection between
them, of course, which is in the archives but you may not have seen it yet.
Or you may have found it yourself, of course.
